Home to top-notch public institutions for education, fortune-500 Company manufacturing, and a noble and neighborly citizenry; Spring Hill is one of the finest places to live in the nation!

History

Spring Hill is a city of enormous historical significance in the grand scheme of the American narrative. The city itself has been settled for over one-hundred and fifty years, and in 1864 became the site of a legendary Civil War battle.

In November of that year, General John Bell Hood moved his army into position to flank the Union forces of General George Thomas’ Army of the Tennessee.

Hood partnered with General Patrick R. Cleburne and the cavalry of General Forrest to commence an attack in late afternoon.

Due to a controversial confusion, however, General John M. Schofield evaded the trap set by the Confederate ranks and escaped with his twenty-three thousand men to nearby Franklin.

Though a much more costly skirmish would ensue, the battle at Spring Hill was nonetheless brutal, and of great significance. Casualties exceeded eight-hundred, and in 1995 the one-hundred-ten-acre battlefield site was made a Historic monument by the Spring Hill Battlefield Preservation Council.

Recently, Spring Hill has become home to the General Motor’s owned manufacturing plants of Saturn Automobiles, with plans to resume assembly in 2012 after a brief hiatus.
